MILWAUKEE - Marquette will open NCAA Tournament play Thursday in San Jose, Calif., as the No. 6 seed in the East Regional against No. 11 seed Washington.

It's the third straight year the Golden Eagles have earned a six seed in the NCAA Tournament. In 2008, Marquette defeated No. 11 Kentucky in the First Round before falling to No. 3 Stanford in overtime of the Second Round. Last season, the Golden Eagles lost to No. 3 Missouri in the Second Round after taking down No. 11 Utah State in the First Round.

The team that advances to the second round will play the winner of No. 3 New Mexico and No. 14 Montana matchup.
