OSHKOSH - Improved water clarity and nice weather led to improved numbers for sturgeon spearers on Lake Winnebago Friday.
Twenty-five fish were harvested, including four fish that topped the scales at 100 pounds or more.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources expects there will be an even larger push this weekend and spearers will have better success with more favorable conditions.
Largest fish of the day: Kent Simonson - 80.3”, 139.8 pound female - Registered at Jerry’s Bar in Oshkosh.
