GREEN BAY (AP) - In a story Nov. 19 about Wisconsin hunting fatalities, The Associated Press, relying on information from the Marathon County Sheriff's Department, erroneously reported the age and home town of a hunter who died. Shawn Lemanski was 41 years old and from Grafton, not 51 and from Green Bay.
A corrected version of the story is below:
Wisconsin's gun deer season opening weekend ended with at least three hunting-related fatalities.
Authorities say 41-year-old Shawn Lemanski, of Grafton, died from injuries suffered when he fell from a tree stand in the Marathon County town of Cassel. Also, 51-year-old Steven Jackson, of Antigo, died after he was found unresponsive in the woods near Gleason in Lincoln County.
WIZM radio reports a 22-year-old Milwaukee man died while hunting on the grounds of Fort McCoy. Authorities say Thomas Stamborski suffered a gunshot wound on land approved for hunting.
All deaths occurred Saturday.
