OSHKOSH - Spearers on the upriver lakes have one more day to bag a trophy sturgeon.
This Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reports that six adult female sturgeon were harvested on the upriver lakes, raising the season total of adult females to 76 and tripping the 90% trigger. 21 total sturgeon were harvested on upriver lakes Monday. The spearing season on the upriver lakes will end at 12:30 pm on Tuesday.
The season continued to be a struggle on Lake Winnebago. A total of nine sturgeon were harvested on Winnebago on Monday, with the DNR blaming poor water clarity for low numbers.
Registration stations at the Harrison Town Hall and Payne's Point have closed until further notice due to poor numbers on Lake Winnebago. The DNR says fish harvested in this area can be registered at Stockbridge Harbor, Waverly Beach or Jerry's Bar in Oshkosh.
Largest fish of the day: Mandi Rahmer, registered at Stockbridge Harbor - 67.1", 92.2-pound female sturgeon.
