OSHKOSH - Improved water clarity led to improved numbers for sturgeon spearers on Lake Winnebago Wednesday.
The 15 fish harvested Wednesday nearly equaled the totals from Monday and Tuesday combined. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says spearers are reporting better water clarity and are able to see two-to-four feet further down than past days.
The DNR says it plans to check for water quality on Thursday.
Largest fish of the day: Brian Burnett - Quinney registration station - 66.8", 84.4 pounds.
