Water clarity reported ahead of sturgeon spearing

LAKE WINNEBAGO - With less than a week to go before the 2013 sturgeon spearing season, the Department of Natural Resources has taken water clarity measurements at several spots on the east side of Lake Winnebago.

On Monday, DNR staff members said water clarity overall is less than it has been in recent years.

Here are clarity observations at various points on the lake:

Fisherman’s Road	Clarity

1 mile from shore	7 feet
2 miles from shore	8 feet

Brothertown	Clarity
1/2 mile from shore	0 feet
1 mile from shore	8 feet
2 miles from shore	7.5 feet
