Men sentenced for illegally hunting bear

GREEN BAY - Two area men have learned their punishment for illegally hunting black bears.

John Kellogg of Gillett was sentenced to six months in federal prison. He also lost his hunting and fishing privileges for 15 years.

Christopher Halfmann of Green Bay received three years probation. He also cannot hunt or fish for six years.

Kellogg, Halfmann and two others were recently convicted and sentenced for illegally killing and tagging black bear. The bear meat and hides were also illegally sold.
