GREEN BAY - The 2011-2012 season is over for the Green Bay Packers and with it comes the certainty that some players have played their final game in green and gold.
The first players who come to mind are the unrestricted free agents like Matt Flynn, Ryan Grant, and Jermichael Finley just to name a few.
After completing four years in the league, Finley knows that sometimes where a player ends up is beyond their control..
"You know if I'm back in Green Bay, I would love to be back in Green Bay, it's all a business decision, and I'm going to do my best wherever I get put."
Special team’s standout and defensive back Jarrett Bush is also unsure of his place in the Packers plans.
"I'm not sure where I'm going to be next year. It depends on what happens here. I might be elsewhere, I might be here. I love it here."
Then there's safety Nick Collins and whether he'll ever be back from a neck injury.
"I know my team wants me to be out there with them, and the doctors want me to be out there, and the good lord want me to be out there, then I'll be out there. At the end of the day I've got to do what's right for my family."
Fellow defensive back Tramon Williams thinks his teammate will be back next season.
"At this point I don't think you still have to worry about whether he'll be back or not but I know he'll do everything in his power to get back."
With the inevitable turnover that accompanies an NFL roster some players will get the offseason to prove they deserve expanded roles with the Packers.
Marshall Newhouse saw extended time in the starting lineup this season due to injuries on the offensive line and is looking to compete for a starting spot next year.
"I prepared all offseason like a starter, that was my mindset coming in and I'm going to do the same thing, come back stronger and with another year under my belt."
The starting quarterback spot won’t be up for grabs but with Matt Flynn on the radar of many other teams around the league the backup spot to Aaron Rodgers may be, and the opportunity to backup Rodgers excites Graham Harrell.
"It's a great place to develop and with Aaron as well. You know he really helps out the guys behind him so this is a great place to learn and develop."
On the other side of the ball, after suffering through and injury plagued season linebacker Frank Zombo wants to assure himself of a spot on the team.
"I've got to comeback during OTA's and work on my fundamentals, my technique, and come into camp and earn a spot on this team and ya know, find my spot on this team."
