Details of the referee deal

Here's a look at some of the main issues regarding the deal between the NFL and referees' union.

It calls for the referees' average salaries to increase to $173,000 next year, and go up to $205,000 by 2019.

The current pension plan will be in place through the 2016 season, then it will be frozen.

Beginning next year, the NFL will have the option of hiring a number of officials on a full-time basis to work year-round.

The NFL will also have the option to hire extra officials for training and development purposes.  And may assign those officials to work NFL games.

The deal still needs to be approved by 51% of the union's 121 members, who plan to vote Friday in Dallas.
