GREEN BAY - There isn't much that warms a Packers fan's heart like Sunday's victory over the Houston Texans.
“Well I was ecstatic!” said James Vida of Dickinson, North Dakota.
“We won, we smashed a good team,” said Andy Turner of Anniston, Alabama.
“I loved it. They played like we want to see the Packers play,” said Denise Turner.
A 42-24 toasting of the Texans. Fans say it was a total team effort.
“The defense played better than they had all season. This is what Green Bay, in my opinion, has to have, is a defense to help the offense,” said Andy Turner.
Sunday's win followed a week of worry. A blown lead in Indianapolis, and critics were starting to be heard. National sports analysts even said Rodgers was rattled in the first five games.
Rattled or not, Rodgers responded. His six touchdowns were a career high.
“What do you think you told the critics tonight?” Sunday Night Football’s Michele Tafoya asked Rodgers after the game.
“Shhhh,” he replied.
At The Stadium View Bar & Grille, fans say those critics may have to find something else to talk about.
“You tell me one team in the NFL wouldn't want to have Rodgers for their quarterback,” said Jim Libert of Green Bay.
As the team sits at .500, fans are looking for good things to come.
“I think of the Super Bowl season, that did not look good at all either for quite a while. But we did quite all right,” said Vida.
