Gbaja-Biamila, Jacke to be enshrined in Packers Hall of Fame

Former team president Fischer also being inducted

GREEN BAY - The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame is set to grow by three.

Defensive end Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, kicker Chris Jacke and contributor Emil Fischer are set to be inducted in July.

Gbaja-Biamila is the team’s all-time leader in sacks with 74½. He registered 10 or more sacks each season from 2001 until 2004 and recorded a four-sack game at Chicago in 2005. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2003. A fifth-round draft choice from San Diego State in 2000, Gbaja-Biamila played in 132 games with the Packers from 2000 until 2008.

Jacke ranks third on the Packers’ all-time scoring list with 820 points. Jacke led the team in scoring seven times. His 17 career field goals of 50-plus yards, including six in the 1993 season, are team records. He also holds the team record with five field goals in a game, which he accomplished twice. Jacke was named All-Pro in 1993. A sixth round selection from Texas-El Paso in 1989, Jacke played in 133 games with the Packers, including Super Bowl XXXI.

Fischer’s association with the Packers began in 1926, when he joined the team’s board of directors. He became a member of the executive committee in 1935, served as team president from 1948 until 1952 and was chairman of the board from 1953 until his death in 1958. The team also credits Fischer with maintaining the Packers’ status in the NFL during the league’s absorption of franchises from the All-America Football Conference in 1949, as well as during Curly Lambeau’s resignation in 1950.

The hall of fame induction ceremony is set for July 20 in the Lambeau Field Atrium. Tickets for the banquet are $135 each, with tables of 10 available for $1,300. Call (920) 965-6984 or email gwenb@packershalloffame.com for ticket information.
