Packers preparing for week one rematch

GREEN BAY - The Green Bay Packers are back into preparation mode getting ready to go out west. They'll leave in a few days for San Francisco to take on the 49ers.

The Packers were hoping to take the first weekend of the playoffs off, though that didn't quite work out.

They ended up having to play in round one. Now after beating the Vikings they are headed back to California in the playoffs for the first time since Mike Holmgren was head coach.

The Packers will take on the 49ers, a team they played and lost to in week one of the season.

However, these teams have gone through personnel changes, injuries and more.

The 49ers have a different starting quarterback as well.

The Packers are hoping they will be able to once again turn around a regular season defeat into a postseason win.

"You look at those components and they had the extra week, so they're going to be some new wrinkles as there always is. At the end of the day, we've established our brand of football and that's what we're taking to San Francisco and that's what we're taking to San Francisco to win. It's going to get any cleaner than that for us. We're not going to sit here and start making up things and trying to chase ghosts and worry about schemes that are out there. We're going to stay focused on things that we do,” said head coach Mike McCarthy.

The Packers play the 49ers at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday. It’ll be broadcast on FOX 11.
