Special teams need to be special in San Fran.

GREEN BAY - Playoff games are won and lost on field position and turnovers, and special teams are a big part of that.

For the Packers special teams have been a very successful phase of the game, except for the struggles in the kicking game.

In the first game of the year, Randall Cobb returned a punt for a touchdown against the Niners. They would love to see that again.

They've added Jeremy Ross to the mix and they've had solid coverage as well.

Saturday night the Packers are hoping to be able to keep up a high level of play at Candlestick Park.

“We need to play at a high level and each group in special teams, and scoring points with our field goal team is really important. We've got to do a good job in all phases,” said Packers special teams coordinator Shawn Slocum.

“We just work hard, everybody does their job, everybody has a knack for it, everybody's buying into the system, and everybody wants to be great and everybody wants to win. So they are playing with an edge, everybody's playing with like a chip on their shoulder saying we're going to be the best special teams unit in the National Football League,” said Packers returner Jeremy Ross.

The Packers play the 49ers at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday. It’ll be broadcast on FOX 11.
