Phoenix women get NCAA at-large bid

GREEN BAY - The Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball team will be heading to the NCAA tournament after all.
The Phoenix were selected as the number 12 seed in the Dayton region and will match up against the number five-seeded Virginia Cavaliers. The game will be played in Ames, Iowa on Sunday evening with tip set for 6:20pm.
After losing to Cleveland State in the semifinals of the Horizon League torunament it was widely expected that the Phoenix would be left out of the tournament field.
The Phoenix lost in the opening round of the NCAA tournament last season against LSU.
