GREEN BAY - A Green Bay law firm has offered to cover the cost of renaming a city street in honor of Packers coach Mike McCarthy.
During the Packers’ Return to Titletown ceremony Tuesday, Mayor Jim Schmitt announced the street renaming plans. However, Ald. Chris Wery said he would oppose the plan, citing the cost to the city, residents and businesses along the street. Wery is opposing Schmitt in Tuesday’s mayoral primary.
Thursday, the law firm of Metzler, Timm, Treleven, Pahl, Beck, S.C. offered to donate up to $5,000 to cover the cost of new street signs and labor to install them.
It has not been determined which street would be renamed McCarthy’s Way.
