"Return to Titletown" draws thousands

GREEN BAY - Thousands of fans pretty much filled up the Lambeau Field bowl Tuesday afternoon to celebrate a Super Bowl victory.

 The players, their coaches and the Lombardi Trophy were at the center of The Return to Titletown event.

The mayor even announced the city is naming a street, McCarthy's Way. And while the event started at 4 p.m., fans were celebrating long before that in the parking lot.

With the warmth of a small grill, Patrick Tracy and his friends settled into Lambeau Field's parking lot for a tailgate unlike any they've had before.

“I think it's glorious. There's not even a game going on, people game just to celebrate the Super Bowl victory and the return of the players,” said Tracy, Neenah.

It had the look and feel of game day, but Return to Titletown was a much bigger deal for some of the fans.

“I was 7 the last time they won a championship, so it's a little different, but it's fun,” said Tommy Ksobiech, Milwaukee.

Return to Titletown drew in tens of thousands of fans, excited for an opportunity to welcome home their favorite players and the Super Bowl trophy. Hours before the event began, they flooded the parking lot and waited to catch a glimpse of some players walking in

“It’s pretty electric, lots of people excited, It’s nice to see a lot of the old championship shirts so it's fun,” said Ksobiech.

Braving the freezing temperatures, they stood outside taking pictures, relishing every moment.

“It's big, it's a blast. Words can't describe it,” said Steve Tate, DeForest.

The excitement only grew as fans packed into the bowl and the players entered the field. For more than an hour, fans sat outside watching the Titletown heroes give speeches and show off the Lombardi Trophy.

Even an hour after the event ended, fans hung around, taking pictures, still celebrating. Trying to make the moment last as long as they possibly can.

“The atmosphere was amazing, the wave was going around, people were cheering MVP, it was crazy,” said Christy Zellmer, Milwaukee.

And fans say while the event is over, their excitement about the Super Bowl Victory is far from dying down
