DALLAS - Several Schneider National trailers were damaged when a tornado tore through the company’s facility near Dallas.
A spokesperson said the Ashwaubenon-based company was still assessing the situation at the operating center in Texas.
"If the storm was that intense and that aggressive, what did that mean for our people who were in and around that area so absolutely, pretty horrified about what could have happened at a person and people impact, what it might mean for our associates," said Janet Bonkowski with Schneider National.
Bonkowski said there were no injuries at the facility and no damage to the building, "but significant damage to the equipment that was in our yard."
Schneider says it has about 65 maintenance and office workers at the facility, and between 200 and 300 drivers move through the facility each day.
There are 254 tractor trailers and 204 trailers at the facility, according to the company.
Local news video shows trailers being tossed into the air. An empty trailer weighs 14,000 pounds, while a full one weighs about 46,000, according to the company.
Preliminary estimates from the National Weather Service were that six to 12 tornadoes had touched down in North Texas. Officials say more than a dozen injuries were reported.
