Warm December weather good for golfing, yard work

OSHKOSH - Ah, a cloudy, foggy, early December day.

The perfect weather to... tee off at the golf course?

When high temperatures surge into the 50s, it sure is.

“Anytime you get anything into November and December, it's a bonus,” said Tom Lloyd of Oshkosh

“This is absolutely fabulous. It's unreal. It's great,” said Jean Wiegand of Winneconne.

While we didn't set any record highs Monday, it's the first time Green Bay has eclipsed the 50 degree mark in December since 2001.

People out on Green Bay's CityDeck were enjoying it as well.

“Just outside for my noon lunch hour walk, we are just walking down the CityDeck enjoying the weather. Actually, I wore my jacket, and now I'm carrying it because it's so nice out,” said Jenny Langill of Green Bay.

Other residents took the opportunity to take of some leftover yard work while the weather holds.

Even Zeller's Ski and Sports isn't minding the lack of wintry weather.

Not just yet, anyway.

“I think that there's no panic yet that I see. So we're very lucky to have the customers that we do, and they know that it's coming, eventually. If this lingered on until the first of the year, then I would definitely see some effects, but I still think until Christmas I'm not gonna panic,” said David Zeller, co-owner of Zeller’s Ski and Sports.

Zeller says even though its warm here, most skiers know that hills just a couple hours north are doing just fine.

And with Northeast Wisconsin's climate, it probably won't be long before winter really settles in here as well.

While it might seem late for not having seen a significant snowfall in most of Northeast Wisconsin, this is pretty normal.

The average date for the first 3 inch or more snowfall in Green Bay is December 16th.
