WASHINGTON (AP) - The top House Republican said the GOP can defeat the Democratic health care bill that may reach the House floor this coming week.

Ohio Rep. John Boehner said Republicans alone can't stop the legislation. But he said Republicans are "going to do everything we can to make it difficult for them, if not impossible, to pass the bill."

Democrats hold a 253-178 majority in the House and need 216 votes for passage. Republicans are looking for help from some Democrats who are in tough re-election races and may vote "no."

Boehner tells CNN's "State of the Union" that Democrats never made a serious attempt to incorporate Republican ideas — and only took "a couple of Republican bread crumbs and put them on top of their 2,700-page bill."
