JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Police are investigating the death of a 50-year-old man who was pushing a woman in a wheelchair when they were struck by a motorist.
The Clarion-Ledger reports (http://on.thec-l.com/H6py4b) that the car struck the man and woman Friday afternoon. The 45-year-old disabled woman was critically injured, according to the newspaper.
Police say the driver was seen weaving in and out of traffic before striking the man and the woman.
The incident happened along the frontage road of Interstate 55 in north Jackson.
Neither the names of the victims nor the driver were released immediately.
Police said they were investigating whether the motorist had been drinking, police spokeswoman Colendula Green said.
