(WTNH) -- A 17-year-old who had a younger sister inside Sandy Hook Elementary School during the time of the shooting speaks about the shooting that took place there Friday.

For more coverage, see our sister site WTNH News 8 in Newhaven, Conn.

He happened to stay home from school today and after gunshots were fired and sirens could be heard, he rushed to the school with his mother.

He says, "there was not a lot of security" when he first arrived and he witnessed three children child leaving the building. "One of them had a very bloody face, it was a very violent scene," he said.

According to his sister's account of the incident, the school went into lockdown and the students had to hide in a closet and be quiet. Police told them to hold hands and close their eyes as they eventually left the school.

"It was very traumatizing and I was very shaken."
