CHICAGO (AP) — Boots the cat, once condemned to death in the will of her late owner, has found a new home at Cats-Are-Purrsons-Too, a cage-free pet sanctuary in Chicago.
Although Georgia Lee Dvorak wanted Boots to be euthanized upon her death, the executor of her will got a Cook County probate court to set aside that part of the document.
Dvorak died Dec. 24 at age 76.
Trustees at Fifth Third Bank on Wednesday took Boots to her new home. The bankers also took along donated cat supplies, food and toys for the pet sanctuary.
Neighbors say Dvorak was an ardent supporter of animal causes and pet shelters and had worried a new home wouldn't be found for the 11-year-old Boots because of her advanced age.
