ELROY, Texas (KXAN) - Actor Patrick Dempsey and Formula One racing legend Mario Andretti headed up an all-star line-up for a ribbon cutting at the Circuit of The Americas Formula One track in Elroy on Sunday, with less than a month to go before the first F1 race.
Racetrack fans ramped up the excitement over the track in advance of November's race, set for Nov. 16 - 18.
KXAN News Anchor Brian Sanders was among those who took a loop around the track, going upwards of 170 mph.
Austin's F1 boss Bobby Epstein said he's ready to see the excitement ramp up over the track, which was highly rated when it was inspected in September by F1 officials.
Meanwhile, last week F1 head Bernie Ecclestone canceled any plans for an F1 race to happen on the streets of New Jersey until 2014 . This makes the Austin race the only U.S. Grand Prix F1 race to be held in 2013.
Every seat around the track appears to have an unobstructed view, and giant screen televisions also will been the race in November.
Tickets are on sale for F1 and other motor sports at the CoTA website.
