22 Oreo Cookies - crushed
1/4 cup melted butter or oleo (1/2 stick)
1/4 to 1/2 gallon of thinly sliced vanilla or mint ice cream (amount depends on how thick you want the ice cream layer!)
1 large can of Carnation Evaporated Milk (12 oz.)
1 cup of sugar
1/2-cup butter or oleo (1 stick)
2 oz. of bitter chocolate (I use the pre-melted variety)
1 small container of Cool Whip (any kind)
BOTTOM LAYER: Use a 9" x 13" pan. Mix together crushed Oreos and 1/4 cup butter. Press into bottom of pan.
2nd LAYER: Slice ice cream into sections and spread over the Oreo layer and place in freezer.
3rd LAYER: Mix evaporated milk, sugar, 1/2 stick butter and chocolate in a heaving pan. Boil until thick, stirring constantly for 10 to 15 minutes. Thickens like pudding. Cool completely. Spread cooled chocolate mixture on firmly frozen ice cream layer.
TOP LAYER: Spread a small sized Cool Whip on top of the firm chocolate layer. Keep frozen until ready to serve.
For a little variety you can make half of the pan with mint chocolate chip ice cream and the other half vanilla. Be creative…. Use your favorite ice cream and add nuts or sprinkles on top!
