GREEN BAY - Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt presented a $15,000 donationWednesday to the yet to be built Children's Museum.
It comes from the Yahoo! Sports Mayoral Face-off FantasyFootball League.
12 mayors are taking part in the online competition.
Green Bay won the civic pride portion of the contest, where thepublic voted for their favorite city. Green Bay received more than40% of the vote.
Schmitt says the community’s support will help the projectbreak ground this year.
“It’s been a long time coming. And we feel veryconfident that we will be standing in the Children’s Museumnext year at this time,” said Schmitt.
If Mayor Schmitt wins the fantasy football competition, the citywill be awarded another $15,000. Schmitt's team is currently inninth place with a 1-2-1 record.
On a side note, the Children’s Museum received another$116,000 on Friday. That money was raised during the Grand Galahosted by Merrill Lynch.
On Wednesday, a state committee will release its recommendations on what Wisconsin should do with the Common Core standards.
