CAMPBELLSPORT - Thirty years ago a 5-year-old boy from Campbellsport vanished from his home.
Investigators say they still get leads in the disappearance of Bobby Joe Fritz, but it's still not clear what happened to him.
"It was pretty traumatic for a little town like this," said Ken Ketter of Campbellsport.
At the time of Fritz's disappearance, Ron Reese was a volunteer firefighter who helped with the search.
"We went through the whole town top to bottom, we went through every building and every establishment," said Reese of Campbellsport.
Authorities say Fritz disappeared while playing in his front yard in 1983. A new picture shows approximately what Fritz might look like today. Investigators acknowledge they aren't even sure if Fritz is still alive, but until they know what happened they won't stop searching.
"We won't lose hope and we won't not follow a lead to its logical conclusion," said Fond du Lac County Sheriff Mick Fink.
Reese says Fritz was last seen playing on this hill near the old convent when his sister walked him down the road and helped him cross Highway 67 to the home where his family lived 30 years ago. His disappearance is still troubling to those in this small town.
"Thirty years later it's still something that you still think about and the detectives, I know most of them have retired, but they still think about it a lot too because something like that sticks in your head," said Ketter.
