NEENAH - A 22-year-old man is being held at the Winnebago County Jail on two counts of attempted first-degree homicide.
Police say the man hid in his ex-girlfriend's backyard with a shotgun. When the 24-year-old Neenah woman came outside, he pushed the weapon into her shoulder.
Officials say the woman pushed the barrel of the gun away from her shoulder and the suspect fired a shot, just missing her.
It happened in the 900 block of Byrd Ave. around 3:30 a.m.
Police say a 24-year-old man then came out of the apartment to help the woman and the suspect pointed the shotgun at him.
The man pushed the shotgun away and the suspect fired another shot, again missing his target.
Authorities say the 24-year-old man then struck the 22-year-old suspect repeatedly, disarming him. The suspect then fled on foot, leaving the weapon on the ground.
The suspect was taken into custody. He was taken to a local hospital for injuries sustained after he fired at the 24-year-old man.
Police say the two victims were not injured during the incident. No names have been released.
