HORTONVILLE - After gathering suggestions from the community, Hortonville school leaders have decided on a name for the district’s newest elementary school.
The name North Greenville Elementary School was approved by the school board this week.
The district said community comments in support of the name included, "North Greenville is concise, states where it is located, and makes geographic sense;" "keep it consistent with the rest of the names of the other schools [in the HASD];" "North Greenville Elementary describes the location of the school to visitors and non-residents traveling to the area."
A groundbreaking ceremony for the new school is scheduled for 9 a.m. Oct. 30 at the school site on Hwy. JJ. In case of bad weather, the ceremony will move to the Greenville Elementary School gym.
North Greenville Elementary is scheduled to open for the 2014-15 school year.
