SHERWOOD - What should happen to High Cliff State Park? The DNR is mulling over its next steps, as it looks for public input. That included a meeting Tuesday night at the Sherwood Community Center.
The DNR is proposing to more than double the size of the park on the shore of Lake Winnebago, to 1,800 acres.
The agency says that means the state would have to buy land from more than 100 landowners at an estimated cost of $9 million.
"It's important to have the support of the community because the community uses the park and we need to make sure that we're meeting the needs of the community going forward," said Jeff Prey, a state parks planner.
The park expansion could take years, with construction beginning as early as this year.
