APPLETON - Protesters in Appleton joined in a worldwide march against genetically modified foods, ahead of World Food Day.
The "March Against Monsanto" began at City Park Saturday afternoon.
Monsanto is an American company that produces genetically modified organisms, or GMOs.
They are best known for making genetically engineered seeds used to grow crops.
Protesters in Appleton spoke out against the practice.
"I am against GMOs in our food, and the government pretty much getting away with whatever they want," said one man.
The Appleton protest was one of many "March Against Monsanto" rallies set to take place this weekend in more than 50 countries.
Monsanto officials tell us they are aware of some of the events being held to protest their company.
In an email to FOX 11, the company said it believes it's making a contribution to improving agriculture by helping farmers produce more, while conserving natural resources.
