FOND DU LAC COUNTY - State troopers pulled over 31 vehicles and gave 24 speeding tickets during a special enforcement effort in Fond du Lac County on Wednesday.
The State Patrol had extra troopers along Hwy. 26 south of Hwy. TC for about four hours during the morning and afternoon. They were focused on drivers of commercial motor vehicles and those traveling around them.
Authorities say the highest speed they saw was 88 miles per hour (the speed limit in the area is 55 miles per hour). Among commercial vehicles, the highest speed troopers saw was 67 miles per hour. That driver was also passing other commercial vehicles.
One driver was ticketed and taken out of service for not having a commercial driver’s license.
The State Patrol says the operation was an effort to reduce the number of crashes involving commercial vehicles where people are seriously hurt or killed.
