CHILTON - A Chilton manufacturer plans to add jobs in the coming year.
Worthington Industries has announced a plan to close its BernzOmatic hand torch manufacturing facility in Medina, N.Y., and move the operation to its Chilton facility. The company already makes hand torch fuel cylinders in Chilton and says there is room to expand at the Chilton location.
Company leaders say the move is expected to reduce costs.
The Medina facility has 174 employees. Company leaders say they will have the opportunity to apply for the more than 100 jobs to be added in Chilton. Hiring in Northeast Wisconsin is expected to begin in late fall or early 2014.
Columbus, Ohio-based Worthington Industries says the move should be finished by the middle of next year.
