GREEN BAY - A Green Bay-area man has confessed to four robberies in Brown County, police say.
Officers arrested the man after an armed robbery around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday at Walgreens, 1401 Mason St. A man wearing a bandana had walked into the store and robbed it, using what was described as a black handgun.
A witness saw the man running away from the scene and officers began searching. They found a man who matched the physical description given by a store employee, but who was wearing different clothes. Officers became suspicious when they found the man's vehicle parked to the north of the store, and took him in for questioning.
During the interview, the man, identified as John R. McCabe, 20, admitted robbing the Walgreens. He led investigators to some woods along the East River, where they found the clothes worn during the robbery, an air soft gun, and money stolen from Walgreens.
Police say McCabe also confessed to three robberies last Thursday and Friday, at the Lombardi Express on S. Ashland Ave., the Oneida One Stop on W. Mason St. in Oneida and the Shell gas station on Allouez Ave. in Bellevue.
McCabe has not been formally charged with any crime. No court appearance has been scheduled.
