GREEN BAY - An investigation is underway for what Green Bay police are calling a domestic violence homicide.
It happened Friday morning on the city's east side.
Authorities say a 45-year-old woman is dead, and another man is being questioned.
The victim is identified as Ouida Wright of Green Bay.
Police say her body was found in a house on the 1400 block of Day St.
That was around 7:30 Friday morning.
"We believe that it happened some time during the early morning, late evening hours of yesterday's date," said Lt. Kevin Warych, Green Bay Police Department.
FOX 11 interviewed Wright in 2011, when she won a pair of tickets to see the Packers play in the Super Bowl. She was homeless at the time.
Police are questioning a 50-year-old man.
"It would be fair to say the 50-year-old is a person of interest in this suspicious death," said Warych.
Officers would not say where Wright was found, or how she may have died.
"There was another individual in the house that we've located that does not have any injuries to him," said Lt. Warych.
Tony Lamal who lives nearby says that man is his longtime friend, 80-year-old John Tease. Lamal says the two people in the incident were once homeless, and were staying at the house.
"They were arguing quite a bit yesterday. So he came over by me, and watched a baseball game. Now, all of a sudden I get a phone call about this this morning," said Lamal.
By noon Friday, police cleared the scene.
"There is no threat to the community. The neighbors should consider the neighborhood safe. We have no reason to believe that the community is in danger at this time," said Warych.
Meanwhile personnel from the Brown County medical examiner's office removed Wright's body late Friday morning.
An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.
No charges have been filed in this case.
