Jeremy Homan tells FOX 11 he, his wife and another man rent the house.
Homan says he and his wife were already at work when the fire broke out, but the roommate was home sleeping.
He says his roommate was woken by the barking dogs, smelled smoke, and then safely got himself and the animals out.
"I'm just happy everyone's okay. No one got hurt, my animals…two dogs got out and we're still waiting to see how my cats are, but I'm sure they're fine too," said Homan.
Homan says he and his wife plan to stay with relatives in the area until they figure out what to do next.
Investigators believe the fire was caused by electrical issues. Fire officials say the house is a total loss and there is no damage estimate.
