ASHWAUBENON - A local charter airline wants to help cure the winter blues.
De Pere-based MetJet is offering a new flight from Ashwaubenon to Mexico.
Complete with a mariachi band, MetJet announced the direct service Tuesday from Austin Straubel International Airport to Cancun.
Flights will begin December 7 and run through May.
MetJet officials say the flights will be early Saturday mornings.
"This is actually something that's very good for tourism for our area and we'll definitely book hotel rooms and we'll see spending within the community so very, very excited about it," said Brad Toll, Greater Green Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau.
It wasn't the only announcement of the day. MetJet officials are also offering round trip airfare to Minneapolis for about $140. However, you'd have to stay at least a week and flights leave late Saturday nights and return early Saturday mornings.
