TOWN OF LAWRENCE - An Appleton man is dead after his vehicle went off Highway 41 and struck a tree in the town of Lawrence.
The Hobart/Lawrence Police Dept. was called to the accident on 41 southbound at Highway S around 10:15 a.m. Sunday.
Witness told police the vehicle, occupied only by the driver, left the roadway, went into the ditch, drove through a fence and hit a tree before coming to rest near Mid Valley Dr.
The driver, Donald M. Liebergen, 70, was taken to a local hospital by De Pere Rescue where he was pronounced dead.
Chief Randy Bani says witnesses reported there was no braking by the vehicle, suggesting something might have happened with the driver prior to the accident.
The Brown County Sheriff's Dept. helped with the reconstruction of the accident. The investigation continues.
