STURGEON BAY - If you are traveling to Door County for the Fourth of July, you'll be able to drive across the Bayview Bridge.
The bridge has been closed since early March for repairs and upgrades.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says the bridge will reopen on Friday at 6 a.m. The sidewalk, however, will remain closed until July 28 for finishing work.
The $4.8 million project included structural steel repair, painting, electrical and machinery system upgrades, and an overlay of the bridge deck and approaches.
The work was done to extend the life of the bridge. The Bayview Bridge was opened in 1978. The last major repairs were done in 2004.
