MANITOWOC--An alien invasion took over the city of Manitowoc Saturday.
Sputnikfest landed for its sixth year at the Rahr-West Art Museum.
It celebrates the day in 1962 when a chunk of the Russian satellite Sputnik Four landed in the middle of 8th Street.
Guests turned out for the festival in the space-age spirit, with many wearing costumes.
There were also crafts and "Cosmic Contests."
Organizer say it's a fun way to celebrate history.
"We basically are celebrating the anniversary of it and making it a very fun, out of this world festival," said Any Fricke-Weigel with the Rahr-West Art Museum.
Saturday's event also featured an "alien drop" with the person who's alien landed closest to the site where Sputnik's debris crashed winning a prize.
