KIEL - There is definitely a wide range of snowfall totals for the area.
Residents along the Lakeshore, thanks to the lake effect, took the brunt of the storm.
Kiel was one of the harder hit communities with more than a foot of snow and plenty of winds.
No matter the size of the snow blower, Winter Storm Gavin was a back breaker.
"We started probably last night around 10:30, 11 p.m.," explained Steve Steinert, who spent the day digging out parking lots around the area.
"Been working non-stop since then? Eh, I took a nap around 4," Steinert replied.
The storm dropped a foot or more of snow in some Lakeshore communities. The most those residents have seen all winter.
"I didn't expect anything like this, this morning," said Kiel resident Chuck Cowling. "I looked out before I went to bed around 9:30, eh, it was a little bit, but when I opened up the back door the snow fell in the house!"
Snow piles and drifts were pretty high along the roadways. The storm even made it difficult to get around on foot.
Despite the leg work to get to the sled hill, area children took the snow in stride or by sled.
And Winter Storm Gavin was especially fun for, well, Gavin.
"What are your thoughts on a winter storm named Winter Storm Gavin? I think it's pretty cool," replied Gavin McNitt.
Clean up crews expect to be back out Thursday, to finish up what Gavin left behind.
