TOWN OF HERMAN - Fire destroyed a barn in the Shawano County town of Herman Wednesday morning.
The Gresham Area Fire Dept. says it was called to the Hohensee farm on County G around 6 a.m. Wind quickly spread the fire from the milking parlor, where it began, to the connecting barn.
"Upon arrival we found the building fully involved, talking to the property owners, they said when they first came out to start morning chores the fire was small but I think the wind really fuel fan the flames and it just went from there," said Sam Boucher, Gresham Fire Chief.
Cattle were inside the barn when the fire started. Firefighters say three cows died. The rest of the cattle got out of the barn.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
