SHAWANO COUNTY - A 50-year-old Shawano man has been arrested on tentative charges of animal neglect in Shawano County.
Shawano County Sheriff's say they received a call on Friday of a "foul odor" coming from a barn at a non-working farm.
Deputies searched the farm in the Town of Belle Plaine and discovered 24 cattle of varying ages deceased inside the barn.
The state veterinarian from Madison was called in to assist with the ongoing investigation.
The name of the suspect is being withheld until he is formally charged by the district attorney on Monday.
The felony animal-neglect charge would carry a maximum penalty of 18 months in prison and a $10,000 fine.
