(LIN) — For military families at the Fisher House at Walter Reed Medical Center, this year's Easter Bunny came in the form of a lovable Portuguese water dog, accompanied by the first lady.
On March 20, first dog Bo and first lady Michelle Obama made the trip to Bethesda, Md., to celebrate Easter early with military families.
This trip is just one of the many recent events falling under the umbrella of Joining Forces, an initiative of the first lady and Jill Biden to bring awareness and support to military families.
While visiting families at the Fisher House at Walter Reed, Obama invited families to this year's Easter Egg Roll at the White House, as well as participated in games and activities with children there.
"This is my second time here at Fisher House right around the Easter holidays, but it's not my second time, period. I mean, the Fisher Houses, as you all know, are just so important to families who are recuperating," Obama said. "They're doing some great stuff. As you can see, the houses are beautiful. And all around the country, they are as beautiful and as welcoming and as comforting as you guys are experiencing here."
At the end of the Fisher House visit, Bo stole the show (and even a few kisses) from children.
