GREEN BAY - Voters re-elected a Democratic state Senator who has served Northeast Wisconsin for 12 years.
Dave Hansen, who represents the 30th district, pulled off a win over Republican John Macco.
"We are really looking forward to the next four years," said Hansen in his victory speech.
It's term number four for Hansen in Madison.
The Green Bay Democrat beat out financial planner Macco in a close race Tuesday night.
"We're going to work real hard in the next four years. It's not going to be easy, but it's a special time. The President getting elected, my election, and for all the people that didn't vote for me, I'm going keep working for you too. Keep contacting our office, we'll do all we can," Hansen said.
"I wished him the best of luck, I thanked him for his service," said Macco in his concession speech to supporters.
The political newcomer, said while he may have lost, he's optimistic about the future of the state.
"Obviously, I'm a little disappointed. I was certainly hoping that we could bring three seats to the governor, or at least three. As it turned out though, I think it was a great day for the state of Wisconsin. We moved two seats forward," Macco said.
Hansen said it was a tough campaign, but he's excited to continue to serve the people of Northeast Wisconsin.
He won the race by eight percentage points.
