MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge is endorsingRepublican Scott Walker's campaign for Wisconsin governor.
During an appearance outside the Capitol, Ridge said Walkerhas shown during his tenure as Milwaukee County executive that heknows how to limit government spending and encourage job growth inthe private sector.
Ridge, a former governor of Pennsylvania, says Walker has "aproven record of leadership" and is a consensus builder. He saysWalker's service in the state Assembly shows he also will know howto work with lawmakers to get things done.
Walker is running against former U.S. Rep. Mark Neumann innext month's Republican primary. The winner will take on MilwaukeeMayor Tom Barrett in the general election.
