TOWN OF BRISTOL, Wis. (AP) - Authorities say the shooting deaths of a Dane County couple were a murder-suicide.
The sheriff's office says 53-year-old Kevin Herskind fatally shot his wife, 52-year-old Julie Herskind, and then killed himself.
Sheriff's deputies discovered the bodies inside a home in the Town of Bristol Tuesday. Authorities were called on a welfare check after an employer became concerned when one of the residents didn't show up for work as expected.
The sheriff's office says Kevin Herskind also shot and killed a dog belonging to the couple. Another dog and three cats were removed from the home by an animal control officer.
Authorities say they don't know what led up to the shootings.
