RACINE, Wis. (AP) - Sears is closing at the Racine's Regency Mall in January.
Sears is one of the mall's anchor stores. The Sears Auto Center also will close.
A Sears representative tells The Journal Times the store will start its liquidation sale Oct. 25.
Mall manager Curt Pruitt says the Sears store opened in early 1982, the mall's second year, but was under construction when the mall opened in 1981.
Sears and the auto center have a combined 52 employees. Those workers will have an opportunity to apply for positions at other Kmart and Sears stores.
The company representative says "a handful" of other stores across the country will be closed about the same time. The only other Wisconsin store announced for closure is a Kmart in Fort Atkinson.
