In its second trip to the Division 2 state baseball tournament Notre Dame finds itself one win away from winning a state title.
Notre Dame defeated 2012 state runner-up Ellsworth, 4-1, in the first of two semifinal games Wednesday at Fox Cities Stadium.
Notre Dame entered the postseason with a 9-10 record, but five games later the Tritons are in position to win their first state title. The Tritons opened a 1-0 lead in the first inning and then tacked on three more runs in the fifth inning.
Ellsworth scored once in the top of the seventh inning, but that was it.
Dominic Golubiewsk picked up the win for the Tritons, throwing a complete game, allowing five hits, striking out five and walking two.
Notre Dame will play the winner of Lodi-Waupun at 3 p.m. Thursday in the state championship. The Waupun-Lodi game was played after Notre Dame's game, which ended around 9:40 p.m.
