DE PERE - If you are spending the holiday weekend on the water make sure to keep safety a priority.
The DNR had a few reminders Friday for boaters at the Perkofski Boat Launch in De Pere.
Officials said it's important to check your boat before you head on the water. They also said make sure you have all of the tools to help you stay safe.
"Boating is a lot of fun, but with that fun comes a lot of responsibility. Safe boat operation, wearing your personal flotation device, making sure you have all of the safety equipment on board your vessel and that it's available and serviceable," said Darren Kuhn, Wisconsin DNR warden.
Officials said it's important to also be on alert when sharing the water. That's especially true on the Lower Fox River. All summer the area is being dredged.
