A sixth tornado confirmation near New London was something the National Weather Service says it thought was coming.
But agency officials say since the storms caused so much damage, it took more time to look at the emergency management damage survey and radar data to confirm a tornado touched down.
This sixth tornado struck the Huckleberry Campgrounds south of New London.
Two people were injured as the EF-1 tornado with winds of 90 to 95 miles per hour tore through the campground.
This tornado was on the ground at the same time as the stronger New London EF-2 tornado to the north.
The two may have interacted with each other.
"They ended up in kind of the same area and it's possible the energy from the southern one actually got translated into the northern one, and that continued on to the east toward Greenville,” said Jeff Last, a meteorologist with the Green Bay National Weather Service.
Last added that from the end of the month, they have another 60 days to finalize the tornado tracks and storm damage information.
However, he does not think there will be any more tornadoes to confirm.
